Overview

When the shell of a home is already set, the pressure falls entirely on the furniture to define its soul. For the Rahul Kalra project in DLF Phase 1, Interia stepped in not to build walls, but to curate a living gallery. Over a dedicated six-month timeline, we bypassed standard retail pieces to engineer a highly tailored furniture collection from scratch. The mandate was clear: push boundaries with raw metals, rich, moody tones, and intense architectural silhouettes. By focusing strictly on bespoke curation, each piece operates as a functional sculpture, injecting weight, character, and an uncompromising attitude into an open residential layout.

Bespoke Furniture Curation Only

Unlike full-scale interior renovations, this intervention relied purely on the power of loose and fixed furniture to rewrite a spatial narrative. Based in Gurugram, the curation balances industrial grit with high-end refinement. We mixed heavy, texturized fabrics with sharp black metals, custom leathers, and deep marble surfaces to build a cohesive visual thread. Because we weren’t altering the physical architecture, every sofa silhouette, dining cluster, and bedroom accent had to be meticulously scaled to anchor the rooms and dictate the foot traffic naturally.

The bedroom furniture completely shifts the mood, proving that noir aesthetics can feel incredibly warm. We broke the straight lines of the room with a massive, low-profile bed featuring an off-center headline headboard split between smooth boucle and graphic patterning. Sitting opposite, an earthy, ochre lounge chair grounds the corner, establishing a luxurious contrast against the sleek, dark metal legs of the custom vanity and the flowing, modern lighting forms overhead.

Design Philosophy

The design philosophy behind the Rahul Kalra project centers on "Industrial Chic meets Noir Sophistication." We intentionally leaned into deep, smoky palettes and architectural minimalism to create tension against the building's bright structural canvas. Every piece emphasizes raw honesty—using unpolished textures, blackened steel elements, and matte stone surfaces that age beautifully. By avoiding fussy ornamentation and focusing heavily on geometric proportions and tactile weight, we ensured the furniture feels permanently integrated into the space rather than merely placed inside it.
